For generations, Rusthållargården has been a place for relaxation and enjoyment. Here on Kullaberg, overlooking Skälderviken, nature, history and gastronomy come together in an experience for all the senses.

A long history of hospitality
For more than a century, the same family has run the hotel here. But long before guests slept soundly in king-size beds, the building was a place with royal connections.
From cavalry to restaurant
The estate was built in 1675 using stone from an old watchtower at Krapperup Castle. You can still see stones from the castle in the limestone steps at the entrance from Stora vägen.
During the reign of King Charles XI, the estate, which was the largest in the village, became a rusthållargård. In times of war, the owner was required to provide accommodation for the king’s soldiers and horses. In return, the estate was exempt from taxes.
In the early 19th century, the estate was granted the right to operate an inn. The spirits were produced in the stone building between the villas and the main building.
Hotel Arild
In 1904, Johannes Gudmundsson took over the business, becoming the first member of the family that still owns and runs the hotel today.
Under the name Hotel Arild, the property developed into a well-known guesthouse with a personal touch and a distinctly Skåne hospitality. Over the years, the business grew, and its reputation for good food and warm hospitality spread far beyond the village.
Tradition in a new way
Today, we carry the tradition forward while continuing to evolve Rusthållargården with the times. Our restaurant has been joined by a rooftop terrace where we serve pizza and good vibes under the open sky, while our spa has become a natural part of the experience.
What remains is our care for both the place and the people who visit it.
